Hallelujah! BBQ

Blake Barrow, B.A. '80, M.A. '83, J.D. '88, has been nurturing both hearts and appetites at Hallelujah! BBQ since it opened its brick-and-mortar doors in April 2023. A former trial lawyer, Mr. Barrow left the courtroom to advocate for El Paso's homeless community and has served as the Executive Director of the Rescue Mission of El Paso since 1997.
Vocational rehabilitation is a key component of the Mission's services. Hallelujah! BBQ exclusively hires individuals who are in or have gone through the Mission and helps equip employees with skills that can be used in trades and careers within the community. "We're about putting people back together," Barrow said in a Texas Monthly article. "If I'm going to take people who are homeless and help them succeed at life, the way they're going to succeed is by making the very best product, and providing the best service.
